Got Web Presence?

Get Found With Multiple Internet Media SourcesMany people think that a Web Presence is a web site. However, a web site is only one component. A Web Presence is a slice of the Internet pie. The bigger your slice, the more authority you have in your particular market (niche). Whether you are starting an online business to complement or drive traffic to your offline business, or you want to have an Internet home business, creating your web presence is essential to your success.
Here are 3 basic elements to consider for your online business:

SEO: A search engine optimized website will be crawled by the search engines more often, and more deeply. There’s no point in having hundreds, or thousands, of pages for your site if the search engines are only crawling a few of them. Web sites that are properly optimized will have their content appear higher in the results when someone is searching for what you are offering.
  • Usability/Functionality: Internet users want sites that are easy to navigate, have a clear expectation of what the visitor is supposed to do – a call to action such as; sign-up for a newsletter, buy something, download something, etc. In addition, a web site should provide information in a clear and transparent manner.
  • Branding: Your brand should be clearly evident to both customers and visitors. Use your logo and/or slogan on everything related to your site including; email, newsletters, shopping carts, digital products, packaging, business cards, etc.
  • In addition to your main website, you will probably also benefit from a Facebook page and Twitter account. Depending on your business, a Google Places listing and a LinkedIn account will also increase your exposure.

There are other methods that can be used, but every business is different and requirements vary. The primary goal is to get as much exposure as you can from as many sources as possible. Doing so will create a successful Web Presence.
